'What representations of gender are constructed by the extract through the use of: Mise en scene / Editing / Use of camera / sound?'
The first person we see in the trailer is Merlin himself this tells us from the start that the programme is going to be about him and being a man it suggest it may be centred around men. we also see caves and him exploring, this has connotations to men because it is usually the men that explore rather than women.
throughout the whole of the trailer there is hardly any women in it and there is only one main women in the show. we also see men fighting the which is a very manly thing to do and generally only men fight, either to show their powerful or to win fights. one woman that is in the trailer is made out to be a witch and in the times merlin is set allot of women and it was normally only women were accused of being a witch. there is also only a king and no queen, this shows that man only are capable to run a land.
in the sound there is only men speaking apart from a woman saying only one line "merlin" and even that sounds mysterious.
